...a positive ovulation test makes you as excited as you imagine a positive pregnancy test would!
So, Chris and I are in the middle of cycle 17 and after MONTHS of trying to catch that stupid positive ovulation test, I got one. Back in June my doctor told me to take them in the morning, so I did that. And failed. So then I tried for 2 a day, 12 hours apart. I got almost-positives, but never a solid positive test. So FINALLY I decided, based on those 2 experiences, to take them in the late afternoon. And FINALLY I got my positive. My darker-than-the-control-line positive.
I have to be honest, I've been worried. My doctor commented that FMU was the way to go and that if I couldn't get a positive with that there might be a problem. Well, I went ahead and did my OWN research and I've come to the conclusion that what she told me is WRONG! I've seen so many sources online talking about how afternoon/evening OPKs are good because of the amount of time it takes the hormones to show up on the tests. And you know, I'm GLAD I did my own research and I'm GLAD I decided to try something other than what she said. I feel like with this little thing, I took my health and my fertility into my own hands and it's really empowering. It also just reinforces my decision to use a midwife. Yeah, I'm still on that. That's not to say that my midwife will be perfect, but from what I've read and learned from talking to my midwife, I think that her focus will be on empowering, educating, and encouraging me to be my own health advocate and to know my body.
Anyway, that's my news for the day. That and the snow we got! We got something like 6-7 inches today. Fun stuff!!
You go girl! Take that into your hands because it is YOURS to take! :-)
ReplyDeleteAfter my L&D experience, I am very very pro-midwifery!
I know what you mean! Ovulating is so excited because it means - 'here we go...we have a chance!' Super exciting. Hope this was the one :)
ReplyDeleteOh, yes I completely understand this. I am not so patiently waiting for my own +OPK. I'm really confused about why your doctor would tell you to take them in the morning. I'm pretty sure even the package says taking them in the morning is not recommended. I usually only take them in the morning when I get super impatient and start taking them every time I pee haha.
